CPWDP launches thematic education campaign

The Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party recently launched a thematic education campaign to improve the abilities of party members so they are better able to play their roles in the country's multi-party cooperation system.
He Wei, CPWDP chairman, said during the launch meeting on Tuesday in Beijing that the campaign is an important means for the party to improve and strengthen its role as a participating socialist party with Chinese characteristics.
He, who is also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said one focus will be the study of the united front work theory.
He also stressed the need to combine theory with practice and use theory to guide practice and that investigation and research can be adopted as an important part of the thematic program to identify problems, and produce high-quality suggestions for the government.
The CPWDP, which was founded in August 1930 in Shanghai, is mainly composed of leading intellectuals in the fields of healthcare, population resources and environmental protection.
With about 192,000 members, it is one of eight non-communist parties that participate in China's state affairs under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
Thematic education for non-communist parties was launched in May after the CPC started a Partywide thematic education campaign to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in April.
