Health commission supports rescue, treatment efforts after hospital fire

The National Health Commission declared its continued commitment to rescue and treatment work on Wednesday after a deadly fire engulfed a hospital in Beijing.
A fire broke out in the east wing of the inpatient department of Beijing Changfeng Hospital in Fengtai district on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of 29 people and the injury of many.
The commission immediately deployed resources to support the injured and medical staff. Minister Ma Xiaowei stressed putting the safety and well-being of patients first, and directed health officials to guide and support Beijing in its response.
Officials from the commission immediately went to the site to guide medical treatment. A national-level expert group, comprised of specialists in intensive care, respiratory diseases, burns, cardiology and endocrinology was assembled, and the team quickly joined local staff in carrying out case management for each patient.
The experts worked together to evaluate and assess the condition of each patient, and provide customized treatment plans to ensure the best possible care for each individual.
The commission said it will closely monitor the progress of medical treatment and patient recovery, and provide ongoing support and guidance to Beijing.
