Chengdu of Sichuan province, and Chongqing municipality are attracting increasing numbers of college graduates for work, according to Zhaopin Limited, a major Chinese recruitment website.
The Third Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle Employment and Entrepreneurship Week kicked off in Chongqing on Tuesday, attracting scholars from around the country and entrepreneurs for an exchange of views about how to address high-quality and full employment in the job market.
"Based on various statistics, we found that more and more young graduates want to work in the two cities," said Guo Sheng, CEO of Zhaopin Limited, during the week's opening ceremony.
A Zhaopin Limited survey found that 10.68 percent of the country's graduates want to work in Chengdu and Chongqing. The labor force from Chengdu ranked relatively high in the talent inflow to Chongqing, followed by those from Shenzhen, Beijing, Xi'an and Guangzhou. As the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle continues to expand as an important regional development strategy (it was initiated in January 2020) it attracts more talent, higher-quality and fuller employment.
Guo suggested that the region should strengthen local talent cultivation, including improving workers' professional competitiveness, their adaptability to the job market and their ability to upgrade their employment opportunities.
According to the Ministry of Education, the number of college graduates in China in 2022 reached 10.76 million, a record high.
