CCTV reports allegations of fake health products

Enforcement personnel from Guangzhou's market supervision and administration bureau sealed a large number of medical and health products on Wednesday following an investigation into a number of manufacturers.
The bureau promised to immediately launch further investigations and organize sampling inspections and examinations and soon make the findings public, the bureau said in a statement.
The companies and people who may have violated the law or regulations will be punished appropriately, it said.
The special operation was launched after China Central Television — during its March 15 Consumer Rights Day Gala on Wednesday — exposed a number of medical and health products that have been produced in the city.
Wednesday was also World Consumer Rights Day.
CCTV reported that departments across the country have received many complaints from consumers about poor quality or fake medical and health products in the recent months.
The March 15 gala has become an annual tradition that attempts to empower consumers and crack down on poor business practices. Authorities vowed zero tolerance for counterfeit products.
