Train made in China starts operation in Turkiye
A metro train developed by Chinese automaker CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co entered service on Jan 22 in Istanbul, Turkiye.
The fully automated driverless train runs for about 34 kilometers, passes nine stations and links downtown Istanbul with the airport in 30 minutes.
According to the maker, the design of the outlook integrates the elements of tulip flowers, with a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a maximum passenger capacity of 1,100.
The automated driving design can adapt to various driverless operation scenarios. The multiple operation technology provides a more flexible configuration of train cars to meet passenger demand during different periods on the airport line. The train is also equipped with a visual emergency communication system and interactive unlocking doors, so that passengers can contact the operation control center.
According to Li Yangyang, the project manager, the company overcame the impacts of COVID-19 and successfully delivered the train in six months. It is also the fastest metro train in Turkiye.
