Ten-man Corinthians hold Boca Juniors in Copa Libertadores


BUENOS AIRES - Dario Benedetto continued his impressive scoring form to earn Argentine giants Boca Juniors a 1-1 home draw with Brazil's Corinthians in their Copa Libertadores group match here on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old striker nodded home in the 42nd minute after Raul Gustavo's headed pass, canceling out Du Queiroz's opener for the the visitors. Benedetto has now scored three times in four matches this campaign.
Corinthians were forced to play the last half-hour with only 10 men after Victor Cantillo was sent off for a second bad foul.
The result at La Bombonera means Corinthians remain top of Group E with eight points from five matches, one point ahead of second-placed Boca.
Deportivo Cali and Always Ready have five and four points, respectively, with a game in hand over their rivals.
In other Copa Libertadores group stage matches on Tuesday, Talleres Cordoba drew 0-0 at Sporting Cristal, Flamengo won 3-0 at home to Universidad Catolica, Cerro Porteno held Penarol to a goalless draw in Montevideo, Estudiantes won 1-0 at Bragantino and The Strongest drew 0-0 at Caracas FC.
