FM defends China's whole-process democracy

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday the United States blatantly drew an ideological line between countries and created division in the world, which violated the spirit of democracy.
He said setting a standard for democracy after the US system is undemocratic and putting one's own system on a pedestal is not just against the spirit of democracy, but also spells disaster for it.
China practices whole-process people's democracy, which is broad-based, genuine and effective and enjoys the wholehearted endorsement and support of the Chinese people, Wang said. "The world recognizes China's democracy and we have full confidence in our path."
Wang said China looks forward to exchanges and mutual learning with other countries on the basis of equality, calling for countries to promote the true spirit of democracy, strip pseudo-democracy of its various types of charade, and make international relations more democratic so as to inject forward momentum to human progress.
