North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region will reportedly promote the high-end intelligent and green development of its manufacturing industry.

The goal was tabled at the Inner Mongolia Industrial Economy High-quality Development Conference, held in the region's capital city of Hohhot on Feb 21.

In terms of premium-quality development, the region's main task was set at establishing advanced manufacturing clusters and key industrial supply chains, including green agricultural and livestock product processing, modern equipment manufacturing, new chemicals, and new materials production and biomedicines.

The aim is that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the region will have put in place four advanced manufacturing clusters – each with an industry scale of 100 billion yuan ($15 million) – and one advanced manufacturing cluster with an industrial scale of 10 billion yuan.

The conference proposed that the development of new energy manufacturing in Inner Mongolia will also be vigorously supported.

This year, the region is expected to provide 2.7 billion yuan in funds to guide the development of key industries, while at the same time promoting the establishment of a 10-billion-yuan new energy equipment manufacturing industry fund, in a bid to support the construction of major industrial chain projects.

To boost the intelligent development of industries, Inner Mongolia is projected to make full use of new internet technologies to transform and upgrade traditional industries.

Free digital assessments will be provided to all manufacturers above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – to help them clarify digital transformation measures and establish a list of digital enterprise transformation projects.

What's more, Inner Mongolia will support the development of enterprise innovation capabilities, the expansion of effective investment, as well as green and intelligent transformation.

Focusing on green development, plans are for Inner Mongolia to start with the construction of a number of low-carbon parks and zero-carbon parks.

For energy-saving renovation projects, subsidies will be given at the rate of 200 yuan per metric ton of standard coal saved, while water-saving renovation projects will be subsidized at the rate of 10 yuan per ton of water saved.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the manufacturing sector in Inner Mongolia is estimated to achieve energy saving of more than 5 million tons of standard coal and energy consumption per product unit in key industries is expected to reach advanced domestic standards.
