Global youth orchestra welcomes Beijing Winter Olympics with new song

Under the baton of conductor Lyu Jia, the Global Chinese Youth Symphony Orchestra performed a song titled Dream of the Future to celebrate the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A music video for the song was released, supported by the China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Center For Young People.
The song was based on a previous piece from 1836 titled On Wings of Song, with lyrics by poet Heinrich Heine and music by Felix Mendelssohn.
With new lyrics in Chinese by Zhi Yu, the song also gathers children's choruses and musicians of the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Global Chinese Youth Symphony Orchestra, launched in 2021, is an extension of another brainchild of Lyu's-the Global Chinese Orchestra-which he co-founded with the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council in 2015. Since then, Chinese musicians overseas have returned home every September to perform as the Global Chinese Orchestra alongside their domestically based peers.
The conductor said he hopes the song will be performed in different languages and become a symbol of peace and love for global youngsters.
