The popularity of "staycations" in Hong Kong grew amid COVID-19 this year. Local hotel bookings, cruise trips and retail sales saw a boost, even though quarantine-free travel is still unavailable. The government and industries launched various programs to stimulate the local tourism market. But in the long term, Hong Kong needs a border reopening to reboot travel and tourism.
