AI key in education upgrading, Education Minister says
China will offer more policy supports in artificial intelligence education and push for deep integration of AI in education and teaching, Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng said on Tuesday.
The country will use AI to promote life-long learning for all people and push for the digital transformation, upgrading and innovation of education to accelerate the building of a high-quality education system, Huai said at the UNESCO International Forum on AI and Education.
The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented global challenge which has posed new and higher demand for the innovative development of education and the integration of education with AI, he said.
"To tackle the challenge, we should continue to view education as the basis to realize sustainable development and continue to give full play to new technology revolutions to push for more equal and quality education for all people."
Countries should work to build open and inclusive education and improve ethics standards in applying AI to education to enable AI to truly promote education development and bring tangible benefits to human society, he added.
