South Korea's Cha wins men's 500m at ISU Speed Skating World Cup


WARSAW - Cha Min-Kyu from South Korea beat Poland's Marek Kania and China's Liu An to win men's 500m Division B competition on the final day of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland.
Liu was incredibly close to taking silver but Kania was faster by 0.01 seconds with a winning time of 34.957.
Canada's Isabelle Weidermann grabbed victory in women's 1,500m Division B, followed by Yekaterina Aydova from Kazakhstan and the Czech Nikola Zdrahalova.
Japan's Miko Tahagi set a new track record in the women's 1,500m Division A as she clocked 1:56.000. Britanny Bowe from the United States and Kazakhstan's Nadezhda Morozova also stood on the podium.
The Dutch skaters dominated in the men's 1,000m as Hein Otterspeer came first with a new track record, followed by his compatriots Thomas Krol and Kjeld Nuis.
