Shanghai center Wang named CBA Defensive Player of Month

BEIJING - Shanghai Sharks center Wang Zhelin was awarded Defensive Player of the Month of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Saturday.

Wang, who joined Shanghai this season after having spent nine years with the Fujian Sturgeons, posted an average of 9.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and the league's second-highest 2.2 blocks in his first nine matches.

He averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2 blocks in his 12 appearances so far, as Shanghai is riding on an eight-game winning streak to place fourth with a win-loss record of 10-2. Enditem
