Traffic pileup in Inner Mongolia claims 5 lives

At least five people were killed and another 15 injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Guyang county, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Tuesday morning, local police said.
The chain reaction occurred at about 6:30 am on the Y001 highway, 12 kilometers from Xingshunxi township.
Local traffic police, emergency crews and medical workers were dispatched to the scene to help rescue the victims, guide traffic and investigate the cause.
As of noon on Tuesday, five people were confirmed dead. Fifteen others were injured and sent to nearby hospitals, police said. All are in stable condition, they said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
