Recently, Gansu's first freight train departed from Wuwei South Railway Station, northwest of China's Gansu province, headed for London. It carried a load of 50 forty-foot equivalent unit (FEU) containers of goods, which would be unloaded in Khorgas port and then exit.

The goods, including 12 million masks, 35,800 medical gloves, auto parts, Christmas items as well as textiles, weighing 1,250 metric tons with a value of 16,727,300 yuan ($2.6 million), would be delivered to the receiving port in 20 days via a combined sea and land transportation, saving about 10 days compared with the traditional sea transit.

Since the beginning of this year, five trips have been launched from Wuwei South Railway Station to London. The total value reached 106 million yuan, with a combined weight of 2,117 tons.
