As a founding partner of the program, the CFPA, which was established in 1989, is committed to helping expand the program to benefit youngsters in need from a larger area in China.

"Michael Jordan's successful story is inspirational that particularly appeals to young students who are interested in the game of basketball," said Yan Zhitao, deputy secretary general of CFPA.

"The whole set of the system that features mentorship, scholarship and social practice has provided an invaluable example for local education authorities, school leaders and teachers to emulate and adopt to benefit more children on a larger scale," said Yan.

"We will continue working closely with Jordan Wings program to help break barriers and level the playing field for more children from underprivileged backgrounds in the new stage."
