TOURISM FORECAST

With Mid-Autumn Festival around the corner, domestic tourism is estimated to receive more than 80 million visits during the three-day holiday starting on Sept 19, according to a tourism forecast report released on Tuesday. As the prevention and control of COVID-19 is well under control and has become normalized nationwide, Chinese tourists have regained their confidence in long-haul tours. Many provincial regions, including Shanghai, Shandong, Sichuan and Guangdong, have announced they are open to inter-provincial group tours.

VP APPOINTMENTS

James Wei and Steven Li have been appointed senior vice-presidents of development for Accor Greater China. They will manage all aspects of development and work with various stakeholders, primarily developers, investors and owners, with a focus on identifying new business opportunities, leading the execution of agreements and subsequent transition to the operations teams in their respective business areas, according to Accor.

RECENT OPENINGS

Courtyard By Marriott Luoyang has opened its doors, marking the debut of the Courtyard brand in the ancient city of Henan province. With 220 guest rooms, the new hotel is situated on the southern bank of the Luohe River, running through the city, and has easy access to the local transport network. Luoyang, which served as a national capital in ancient China, is rich in cultural heritage.

W Changsha has been unveiled in the capital city of Hunan province, the eighth W hotel in China. Designed by a Hong Kong-based architecture firm, the new hotel was inspired by space exploration and targets younger generations who are thirsty for creative experiences.

ITALIAN CRAFT

In cooperation with Italian shoe brand Rene Caovilla, The Ritz-Carlton Beijing is offering a themed afternoon tea, adding an Italian touch to its usual offerings. The afternoon tea, started on Sept 1, integrates the Italian brand's craftsmanship and creativity, as well as signature Italian food into its crafting and design.
