Peaceful China initiative discussed at CPPCC Standing Committee meeting
The 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body, opened in Beijing on Monday, focusing on advancing the Peaceful China initiative at a higher level.
Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the opening meeting.
Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a report at the meeting and listened to suggestions from national political advisers.
Guo underlined that pushing forward the Peaceful China initiative on a higher level should focus on the realization of the second centenary goal of building a strong and modern socialist country in all respects.
He urged upholding the leadership of the Party, following a people-centered approach, pursuing a holistic view of national security and constantly improving the capacity of guarding against and defusing major risks and conflicts.
Efforts should be made to ensure that people live and work in peace and contentment, society is stable and orderly, and the country enjoys long-term peace and stability, he added.
Zhang Qingli, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, who presided over the meeting, asked members of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee to pool wisdom and make contributions to the building of the Peaceful China initiative at a higher level.
He said that promoting the building of the Peaceful China initiative at a higher level is necessary to enhance the people's sense of gain, happiness and security, and is an important part of modernizing China's governance system and capacity.
