Sevilla set sights on Argentine defender Montiel

BUENOS AIRES -- River Plate defender Gonzalo Montiel could be the latest Argentine to join Spanish side Sevilla, according to media reports in the South American country.
Sevilla have offered the Buenos Aires outfit 10 million euros (around $12 million) to secure the right-back before the end of La Liga's summer transfer window on Aug 31, Argentine television network TyC Sports said on Tuesday.
If the deal goes ahead, he would become the fifth Argentine in Sevilla's squad, joining Lucas Ocampos, Erik Lamela, Marcos Acuna and Papu Gomez.
Montiel has made 138 first-team appearances for River Plate since being promoted from the club's youth academy in 2016.
The 24-year-old has also been capped 13 times for Argentina and was a part of the Albiceleste team that won the Copa America in Brazil last month.
