FIBA Asia Cup 2021 rescheduled to July 2022

TOKYO - FIBA announced on Friday that FIBA Asia Cup 2021 will be played in Jakarta, Indonesia as planned, but has been rescheduled to July 2022.
FIBA said in a statement that it and its Regional Office Asia have carefully evaluated the planning and organization of its upcoming Asia events in consultation with the FIBA Asia Board as well as key stakeholders and partners.
"This evaluation has taken into consideration multiple aspects such as current travel restrictions, the well-being of the participants, fan access and experience, and the objective of ensuring the highest quality of events," read the statement.
After having concluded the process, the FIBA confirmed that the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 will be played as planned in Jakarta, Indonesia, but is rescheduled to July 2022, after the window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asia qualifiers.
13 teams have qualified for the Asian continental tournament, while the last three places will be determined via two qualifying tournaments to be played late in August 2021.
The FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2021 Division A will be played in Amman, Jordan from September 27 to October 3, 2021. Jordan will also stage the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2021 Division B matches between November 7-13, 2021.
