Informatization and digitalization have become key to enterprises' future development, industry experts said at a recent forum held by leading accounting firm Grant Thornton.

From a global perspective, the world is undergoing great changes not seen in a century, with dramatic transformation in business models. The epidemic has led to a slow pace in global economic recovery, while the economic and business environment also face great uncertainties.

Li Huiqi, chief partner of Grant Thornton, said enterprise digitalization has been an urgent task, as the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation develops in an in-depth manner.

"To some extent, the informatization and digitalization level of an enterprise will be its decisive factor in standing out among fierce competition," Li said, adding the economic and industrial structure and international division of labor have undergone big challenges.

Confronted with the new situation, Yao Jingyuan, former chief economist of the National Bureau of Statistics, said it is necessary for enterprises to take the domestic market as their starting point.

In response to the profound adjustment of the market structure, enterprises must improve innovation in technology, management and business model to better meet the needs of the market and customers, according to Wang Dehua, the chief accountant of PipeChina.

Other experts in the forum agreed the rise of China's consumption and the strengthening strategy of the national capital market have created favorable conditions for the development of enterprises. Companies need to pay more attention to scientific and technological innovation and keep their development strategies close to market demand in order to achieve high-quality and sustainable development.
