Surasit Thanadtang is the director of the Thai-Chinese Strategic Research Center at the National Research Council of Thailand.
Before joining the NRCT in 2017, Surasit served in the Thai military and was the superintendent of National Defense College of Thailand, the Southeast Asian nation's highest educational institution involved in strategic affairs and security studies.
He was sent to study abroad many times to countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany, where he first learned about Sun Tzu's The Art of War and China's military wisdom. In 1996, Surasit visited China for the first time and studied at the National Defense University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army for one year.
As an expert on China and Sino-Thai bilateral relations, Surasit was invited to the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations events held in Beijing.
