2 injured in 5.1-magnitude quake in China's Yunnan

KUNMING -- Two people were injured and 2,669 houses damaged as of 10:30 am Friday after a 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Shuangbai county in Chuxiong Yi autonomous prefecture of Southwest China's Yunnan province late Thursday.
The local government has earmarked 1 million yuan (about $156,600) and mobilized 3,420 people to carry out the relief work. Life necessities such as tents, quilts, beds and rice have been delivered to residents in the area.
The epicenter was monitored at 24.34 degrees north latitude and 101.91 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 8 km, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
