It was unfortunate for a newborn puppy to suffer amid a disastrous fire, but it was lucky to be saved by firefighters.

After putting out a fire on a grassland on Saturday in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province, firefighters began to clean the site.

During the work, a fireman heard a slight whine and after a careful search, he found a little puppy in the ashes.

The firefighters immediately rescued the animal and then took it to their fire brigade.

They carefully fed it and gave it a bath, and then decided to give it a home.

The dog will be kept at the fire station and will be the firefighters' companion in their daily work.

"We will never give up any life, no matter how weak it is," the firefighters said.
