Shanghai gears up to celebrate CPC's centennial

The Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China on Thursday announced its general plan to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party in the upcoming months.

According to Zhou Huilin, the publicity chief of Shanghai committee, the Memorial of the Site of the the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China will be opened to the public before July 1. An exhibition featuring historical relics related to the Party's history will be launched on the same day. In cooperation with local archives, galleries, museums, and memorials, the city will hold a series of exhibitions to showcase the development of the Party in the past century.

The city will also introduce new regulations to promote, protect and utilize resources related to the Party's history before July. The renovation and construction of key historical sites in Shanghai will be completed by then. These sites include the Memorial of the Site of the First National Congress of CPC, which hosted the initial session of the Party's first national congress in July 1921, and the former site of the editorial department of New Youth magazine, which initiated the New Culture Movement and served as the office for the Party's central committee in the 1920s.

A map highlighting landmarks related to the Party will also be launched soon. The city has pledged to build a national 5A-level scenic spot themed on the Party's development and promote the integrated development of red tourism in the Yangtze River Delta.

A special show to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Party is also in the works. In addition, a total of 413 shows themed on the anniversary will be shown to the public by over 20 art troupes.

Lastly, seminars will be held in the city to discuss related topics, such as the relationship between the city and the founding of the Party.
