Three short videos co-produced by a teacher-student team from the Institute of Radio, Film and Television at Zhejiang University's College of Media and International Culture and Tianmu News, which is affiliated with Zhejiang Daily, were recently released in Hangzhou.

The videos — titled Welcome to ZJU, Ammar Takes You to Tour Yiwu City and Going Around Hangzhou With a Mobile Phone — have made a contribution to the international communication of Chinese culture by using rich audiovisuals to vividly show the successful practice of Chinese international education in Zhejiang province and to present the popularity of smart digital services in people's livelihoods, trade, education and other fields.

Welcome to ZJU presents the beautiful scenery of the seven campuses of Zhejiang University using aerial photography. While introducing the educational strength of ZJU, it details the advanced smart digital teaching concept and faculty of the International College of Zhejiang University. It also shows the colorful lives of foreign students at the university through interviews and talks.

Ammar Takes You to Tour Yiwu City stars Ammar al-Baadani, an overseas PhD alumnus of ZJU and a neurosurgeon working in Yiwu. He takes the audience to tour Yiwu, showing the booming internet e-commerce economy, the open and inclusive international business environment represented by the International Trade City and Yiwu's ancient culture, modernization, prosperity and revitalization.

Going Around Hangzhou with a Mobile Phone tells how a foreigner and his Chinese friend solve problems of eating, living, transportation, travel and shopping by using a mobile phone while sightseeing in Hangzhou. It shows how smart digital services supported by mobile Internet technology have changed the daily lives of people who live or stay in Hangzhou.

The video series was funded by the Chinese and Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education and an online teaching project — "Learning at Zhejiang University, Perceiving China" — of the International College of Zhejiang University.

It was reported that more than 130 students of 30 nationalities from the University of Oxford, the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, the University of Western Australia and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, among others, were enrolled in the 11-day 2021 Zhejiang University Chinese Bridge online course in March this year. It can be said that while displaying the smart digital services of Zhejiang, the series has played a positive role in promoting the development of international education in the Chinese language, facilitating the international dissemination of Chinese culture and expanding China's international influence.
