Xi'an Eighth Hospital, where a locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 case was reported on Thursday, has suspended medical services for new patients, and coronavirus tests are being conducted for all the people associated with the case, local authorities said.
As of 8 am on Friday, 3,998 people — medical workers at the hospital, their families, patients and caregivers — have tested negative for the coronavirus, according to the city government. More tests are underway.
The residential community for families of hospital workers has been closed. No one in the hospital or the community is allowed to enter or exit. Epidemiological tracking is being conducted for all visitors who came to the hospital since March 4.
