Pinduoduo releases report on women consumption trends
Half of the annual orders on e-commerce platform Pinduoduo in 2020 were placed by women from the post-90s and post-00s generation, according to the report about the new trend of women consumption released by Pinduoduo on Monday.
Based on data analysis and survey responses, the report stated that these women accounted for 51 percent of the platform's annual orders in 2020. It also noted that the annual consumption of post-00s women increased the most with a year-on-year rise of 61 percent.
According to the report, the most frequently purchased product categories last year were clothing, shoes and hats, beauty products, and mother and baby products. The increase in orders for women's clothing and beauty products was significantly higher than that of other household products, especially among post-90s and post-00s women.
Meanwhile, orders for pet food and related products from post-90s and post-00s women increased by more than 260 percent compared with 2019.
The report also found that nearly 90 percent of the respondents had recommended products to their peers and made purchases together at least once last year. About 32 percent of the users did this at least three times.
