The past year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, I have not been travelling except to/from Tianjin. My time mostly spent getting to know Beijing again. Organising photograph collections from 34 years of travel across China has also reignited a passion. To start exploring again, to reach the only two provinces never visited, Fujian and Jiangxi. To undertake another great railway journey, maybe to Kashghar.!

My hope - when international travel restarts, people will again come to China for it is through visiting a country, meeting the people, that a better understanding and friendships can form. That is what happened to me in 1987, when those first words, "Welcome to China" proved to be a sincere introduction to what has become a journey now lasting a third of a century.
