'Welcome to China' thirty four years ago remains true today

This passion particularly for Beijing led onto substantial media work. In the earlier 2000's I would be invited by publications such as 'Beijing this Month' to produce monthly articles exploring the city's unique corners. In Scotland I had been involved with radio for many years. In 2004 Radio Beijing was launching an English language station, AM774. Realising my experience I was invited to join the team. For twelve years I produced a daily feature, 'Bruce in Beijing' introducing through various media forms much about the capital and beyond. There were countless interviews with others who shared their own feelings and experiences of living here, of meeting a wide range of people from different countries, specialists in many fields.
Then there have been recent video productions where I suggested locations for filming. Something I learned from radio work back in Scotland, was never to read from scripts when doing outdoor work, make it feel natural, to come from the heart. I wanted to tell my story, my perspectives, it worked very successful. Beijing today has much to be positive about and to show everyday life I feel very important.
Partly through media work my everyday life has become digital, high-tech particularly with photography, smartphone technology and of course, WeChat! It has now been a long time since using any cash!
