Over 100,000 penalized for violating rules on improving Party, gov't conduct
BEIJING -- The year of 2020 saw sustained efforts by China's disciplinary and supervisory authorities to bring officials in line with the country's eight-point code on improving Party and government conduct.
From January to November in 2020, more than 100,000 people across the country received disciplinary or administrative penalties following investigations by disciplinary and supervisory authorities.
The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee released its eight-point code for improving Party and government conduct in late 2012.
In the days running up to the New Year's Day of 2021, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission made public six violation cases, naming the officials involved and detailing their offenses, in a bid to warn against undesirable work practices.
