GSX Techedu Inc to offer strategically upgraded online courses

The New York Stock Exchange-listed education firm GSX Techedu Inc will gear up more efforts in offering higher-quality online courses to primary and middle school students with a strategic upgrade, said its founder, Chen Xiangdong, on Monday.
The move came as online education has been one of the few growth areas in the country despite the general economic downturn due to COVID-19. The sector is expected to see more expansion, as winter vacation may trigger fresh competition for student enrollment among leading firms.
According to Chen, the company integrated its online courses and services for primary and secondary school students under its brand Genshuixue into Gaotu Online, the firm's other brand, which is focused on livestreaming courses.
Chen added the move aims to create a better user experience but at the same time to achieve more effective growth.
"With the new upgrade, lecturers, tutors, and education and research systems of the two brands will be fully integrated. Gaotu Online will focus on large class teaching but small class service to offer personalized experience," he said.
According to GSX's latest financial report, the number of students paying for Gaotu Online's K-12 full-price online courses has reached 1.147 million, which was a year-on-year increase of 140.5 percent.
