Seven in double digits as Guangdong trounces Tianjin in CBA


ZHUJI, China - With seven players scoring in double digits, the Guangdong Southern Tigers smashed the Tianjin Pioneers 110-87 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Wednesday.
Marshon Brooks scored a team-high 18 points, Sonny Weems and Ren Junfei had 17 apiece, Su Wei and Hu Mingxuan added 12 each, Zhao Rui and Zhou Peng both contributed 10 points for Guangdong.
Dmontre Edwards had a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead Tianjin.
The two sides tied at 24-all after the first quarter before Zhao Rui inspired an 8-0 run to gift Guangdong a 54-44 lead in the first half.
After the break, the defending champions kept their momentum and stormed to a 17-6 spurt and led the game 81-64 into the last quarter. Then Guangdong continued to increase its advantage and gave its opponent no hope to come back.
