Beijing overwhelms Tianjin
BEIJING - Beijing Royal Fighters crushed Tianjin Pioneers 111-95 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Sunday.
"The first half we came out we were relax. Our defensive intensity wasn't there. But in the second half guys started to play the way we have in practice," said Beijing head coach Stephon Marbury.
"We played hard tonight but Beijing was a better team," said Tianjin head coach Liu Tie.
Joseph Young and Andrew Harrison led Beijing with 19 points each. Yu Changdong added 16 points and 14 rebounds. Sun Tonglin contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jin Xin and Shi Deshuai had 22 points apiece for Tian jin. Meng Zikai grabbed 19 points and eight rebounds, while He Siyu added 14.
Tianjin took a 28-27 lead in the first quarter before Beijing surged on a 10-2 run and came back 53-48 at the break. Beijing expanded the lead to 15 points in the third period with a 9-2 run and put the game beyond reach in the last quarter.
