Lazio hold Juve in Serie A

ROME - Felipe Caicedo's late equalizer canceled out Cristiano Ronaldo's opener as Lazio held Juventus 1-1 on home turf on Sunday.

The Bianconeri were fresh from a 4-1 midweek win over Ferencvaros in the Champions League, while Lazio tied with Zenit St Petersburg in the same competition.

Juve coach Andrea Pirlo benched Paulo Dybala and opted for Alvaro Morata to partner Ronaldo up front, while Lazio was missing hitman Ciro Immobile due to his positive COVID-19 test.

Ronaldo opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game as Juan Cuadrado burst down the right and squared for the Portuguese to drill home.

Ronaldo should have bagged a brace before the interval, but his drive from Dejan Kulusevski's pass thumped the upright.

Juve then lost Ronaldo to injury in the 77th minute and the talisman was then subbed off by Dybala.

The home side scored the equalizer in the dying minutes, as Joaquin Correa broke into the box with a mazy run, feeding Caicedo who turned to finish with a low strike.

Juve rank fifth in the table with 13 points, four points behind leader AC Milan.

Inter Milan continued its poor form as it drew 1-1 with Atalanta, with the Nerazzurri now managing just one win in the last eight matches in all competitions.

Lautaro Martinez put Inter ahead in the 58th minute with a header, but the Dea got back on level terms in the 79th minute when Aleksey Miranchuk scored a daisy-cutter.

It was not a good day for both Milan-based teams, as AC Milan failed to extend its lead in the table after a 2-2 home draw with Hellas Verona.

It was a topsy-turvy thriller as the away side surged into a 2-0 lead after just 18 minutes, thanks to Antonin Barak's follow-up and Mattia Zaccagni's deflected effort.

The Rossoneri pulled one goal back in the 26th minute as Franck Kessie forced Giangiacomo Magnani to score an own goal.

Kessie was in the thick of the action again as he won a penalty in the 65th minute, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed the spot-kick as the Swede smacked the bar before seeing his header rattle the woodwork.

However, Ibra atoned for his error in stoppage time, as the 39-year-old veteran out-jumped the Verona defenders to steer his header into the net.

Both Napoli and Roma moved into the top-four places as the the Partenopei won 1-0 away to Bologna thanks to Victor Osimhen's strike, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan's hat-trick inspired the Giallorossi to dominate Genoa 3-1.

Elsewhere, Torino drew 0-0 with Crotone.
