Online retail fares well in first 9 months
China's online retail sales reached over 8 trillion yuan ($1.19 trillion) in the first three quarters, up by 9.7 percent on a yearly basis, according to the Ministry of Commerce. Online retail has accelerated the digital transformation of market entities, boosted new business forms and models, and injected momentum into the digital economy. New business models such as livestreaming in e-commerce have combined entertainment with consumption and become popular among consumers.
Hongqi sedan sales up by 93% in Oct
China's leading automaker First Automotive Works Group Co Ltd said sales of its iconic brand Hongqi surpassed 153,000 units in the first 10 months of this year, up 103 percent year-on-year. The automaker sold 23,000 cars of the brand in October, an increase of 93 percent year-on-year, indicating a rising demand for the vehicle.
