Fake Gucci, Chanel items seized in Beijing

BEIJING -- Beijing customs recently busted the biggest intellectual property infringement case so far this year, confiscating more than 60,000 fake goods of international brands such as Gucci, Luis Vuitton, Adidas and Chanel.
The counterfeit products included glasses, bags, garments and shoes, which were sealed on Sept. 30, said an official with the Beijing customs, adding that the products have infringed on the trademarks of 18 well-known brands.
The Beijing customs has stepped up intellectual property rights (IPR) protection and the crackdown on counterfeit goods.
By Oct. 20, the customs had seized 1,094 batches of goods infringing IPR worth more than 2.3 million yuan (about $342,900).
