Mornar Bar edges Buducnost in Eurocup basketball derby
BELGRADE - Montenegrin basketball champion Buducnost was beaten 85-82 by its national league rival Mornar Bar on Wednesday in a thriller in the 5th round of the Eurocup.
The home team came out on top in the clash at the Topolica sports hall in the city of Bar in Montenegro, played without an audience due to COVID-19 epidemic.
Despite an evenly matched contest, Buducnost managed to create some separation in the third quarter and build a seven-point lead, but Mornar then went on a 13-1 run to take the lead.
The two teams ended the regular time even at 76-76. Isaiah Whitehead secured victory for Mornar just one second before the end of overtime with a three pointer.
Jacob Pullen was best Mornar player on the day with a game-high 23 points and five assists. Melvin Ejim scored a team-high 15 points for Buducnost.
Buducnost is now second in the Group B behind leader Unicaja Malaga, while Mornar is third-ranked.
