LONDON -- Liverpool have agreed a fee of around 45 million pounds ($58 million) to sign Portuguese forward Diogo Jota from Wolves just 24 hours after completing the signing of midfielder Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich.

Jota has agreed to a five-year deal with Liverpool and the move is likely to be completed as soon as the 23-year-old completes his medical check.

Jota has been essential in Wolves' climb out of the Championship and in their ability to establish themselves as a force in the Premier League over the past two seasons, netting 33 goals in a total of 111 league appearances while adding a further nine goals in 14 Europa League appearances last season.

When informed of Liverpool's interest, he told Wolves coach Nuno Espiritu Santos of his desire to leave. Consequently, he was left out of the squad that was surprisingly beaten by Stoke City in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.

The move also sees Liverpool's 18-year-old central defender Ki-Jana Hoever move the other way in a deal worth around 13 million pounds. The player who arrived at Anfield from Ajax in 2018 can play on the right side of defense or as a center half and had only recently agreed on a new long term contract with Liverpool.
