Shanghai logs gains in foreign trade
The total value of imports and exports in Shanghai rose by 1.3 percent on a yearly basis to 299.3 billion yuan ($43.2 billion) in July, indicating positive growth for a second month in a row, according to data released by Shanghai Customs District on Wednesday. The total value of exports stood at 118.3 billion yuan in July, up 5.9 percent on a monthly basis. The total value of imports rose by 4.4 percent to 181 billion yuan. The total value of imports and exports during the first seven months contracted slightly by 0.4 percent on a yearly basis to 1.88 trillion yuan.
JD net income up in second quarter
Online retail giant JD said its net revenue rose by 33.8 percent on a yearly basis during the second quarter of the year. Net income attributable to ordinary shareholders for the second quarter stood at 16.4 billion yuan ($237 billion), compared to 600 million yuan for the same period last year. As of June, JD had 417.4 million active buyers over the previous 12 months, up 29.9 percent year-on-year, the company said.
Natural gas yield rises last month
Natural gas output grew at a slower pace in China last month, with production of the clean fuel rising by 4.8 percent on a yearly basis to 14.2 billion cubic meters, retreating from the 11.3-percent growth seen in June, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics. Average daily production came in at 460 million cubic meters. In the first seven months of this year, the country's natural gas production rose 9.5 percent year-on-year to 108.3 billion cubic meters.
