Villagers snatch pork spilled from truck after accident

The government of Mengzhuang village in Yancheng city of East China's Jiangsu province has recovered some of the seven tons of pork snatched by local villagers after an accident last week.
On Tuesday, a truck transporting 10 tons of frozen pork from Shanghai to East China's Shandong province was involved in a rear-end collision on an overpass near the village.
Seven tons of the pork, packed in paper cartons, fell down the overpass and scattered on the road before it was stolen by local villagers.
Some villagers drove motorcycles or three-wheelers to carry the pork. They also ignored the driver's requests from above the overpass to not snatch the pork.
While a carton of pork is worth 1,050 yuan ($151), 267 boxes totaling 280,000 yuan were robbed. The insurance company denied the claim for the stolen pork.
Local police have stored the recovered pork in cold storage and will further investigate the case.
