Zhou, Mayo named CBA's Player of the Month
BEIJING -- Xinjiang Flying Tigers center Zhou Qi and Liaoning Flying Leopards guard O.J. Mayo were both named on Wednesday as the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) Player of the Month for the fourth edition.
The monthly award took matches between June 30 and July 27 into consideration.
Zhou averaged 25.9 points, 15.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks during the spell, leading second-placed Xinjiang to win 9 out of 10 matches.
The award for the overseas players category went to Mayo, who was activated after the league's restart and posted an average of 29.0 points, 7.3 boards, 4.5 assists and 2.4 steals. During that spell, the Liaoning Flying Leopards won 10 matches out of 11.
Liaoning ranks third after the CBA's regular season, which means it will have a bye in the round of 12 playoffs which kick off on Friday.
