SUZHOU, China -- Brazilian forward Ricardo Pereira netted two goals in his Shanghai SIPG debut to help his side claim a 3-1 win over Tianjin Teda in the first round of the Chinese Super League here on Monday.

Tianjin showcased their aggressiveness in the early minutes of the match. Striker Frank Acheampong outran several defenders before being fouled close to the box, earning a free kick. Rong Hao seized the chance to gain an advantage in the sixth minute.

Pereira swept into the front in the 17th minute with a volley which was denied by goalkeeper Du Jia. But he was agile enough to make it up in the 33rd minute, as Yu Hai missed a header from a corner kick and he followed up to knock in the rebound.

Wang Shenchao of Shanghai netted a header before the interval. It was disallowed for an offside at first, but later counted after referees checked the VAR. Pereira scored a brace in the 64th minute after Tianjin suffered a passing turnover.
