Cyberspace body to further regulate information

Business websites, online platforms and media content creators that illegally report news, spread fake information or use sensational messages to mislead internet users will be strictly dealt with, China's top internet watchdog said.
The country's Cyberspace Administration launched the crackdown on Friday to further regulate dissemination of information on the internet and clean the online environment.
Under the crackdown, app stores should increase reviews of domestic news apps, while social media platforms should strengthen management, the administration said.
Ranking lists of hot topics on business websites as well as internet activities involving online celebrities will also be regulated, it said.
The administration said it welcomes the public to report and provide clues via the reporting website, www.12377.cn, during the crackdown.
