Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor warned on Monday that the so-called "primary election" held by the opposition camp over the weekend may violate the National Security Law for Hong Kong.

Lam said the "election" was not part of Hong Kong's political system, adding the government will take action if there is sufficient evidence to do so after an investigation.
