1 dead, 6 missing in southwest China boat accident

KUNMING -- One person was killed and six went missing after a boat sank in Xishuangbanna in Southwest China's Yunnan province, local authorities said Friday.
The boat carrying 24 people capsized at the confluence of Lancang and Nanban rivers at around 4 am Thursday. A total of 17 people have been rescued, and a dead body was found downstream in Myanmar waters, according to the emergency rescue headquarters.
As of Thursday, the Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture had dispatched 17 boats and 400 people for the rescue, along with Myanmar rescuers.
More rescue and investigation efforts are underway.
