NHC Update on COVID-19 Cases in China

1. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 17 June, the following were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 28 confirmed cases (4 imported, including 2 in Shanghai,1 in Shaanxi and 1 in Gansu; 24 local, including 21 in Beijing, 2 in Hebei and 1 in Tianjin);

b) no fatal cases;

c) 3 new suspected cases (all local, in Beijing);

d) 15 cured and discharged cases;

e) 153 close contacts released from medical observation; and

f) 2 severe cases.

2. As of 24:00, 17 June, among all the imported cases, 91 confirmed cases (no severe cases) were still under treatment and no suspected cases awaiting test results. In total 1,860 imported cases had been confirmed, 1,769 cases cured and discharged, and no fatal cases reported.

3. As of 24:00, 17 June, the following had been reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 265 confirmed cases (9 severe cases) still under treatment;

b) 78,394 cured and discharged cases;

c) 4,634 fatal cases;

d) 83,293 confirmed cases;

e) 7 suspected cases pending test results; and

f) 754,966 close contacts traced (including 5,220 still under medical observation).

4. Between 00:00 and 24:00, 17 June, the following asymptomatic cases were reported by the 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps:

a) 8 new cases (2 imported);

b) no cases developed into confirmed cases;

c) 3 cases released from medical observation (1 imported); and

d) 111 cases still under medical observation (63 imported).

5. As of 24:00, 17 June, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan had altogether reported 1,610 confirmed cases:

a) 1,120 in the Hong Kong SAR (including 1,071 discharged cases and 4 fatal cases);

b) 45 in the Macao SAR (all discharged from hospital); and

c) 445 in the Taiwan region (including 434 discharged cases and 7 fatal cases).
