Ex-Mexico boss Osorio extends Atletico Nacional deal
MEDELLIN - Former Mexico and Paraguay international manager Juan Carlos Osorio has agreed to extend his contract with Colombian club Atletico Nacional amid uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The 58-year-old, who's contract was due to expire next month, will now be tied to Nacional until December.
"Ratifying his commitment to the club, Mr Osorio will continue to lead the first team," the Medellin outfit said in a statement.
It added that several players also had agreed to six-month extensions, without saying who they were.
Colombian football has been suspended since mid-March as part of broader efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Nacional currently leads Colombia's 20-team top-flight standings, one point ahead of Deportivo Pasto, who have a game in hand.
Osorio, who was Mexico's head coach at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, took charge of Nacional for a second time last June, replacing Brazilian Paulo Autuori.
