100 million travelers spark Labor Day tourism surge

The Labor Day holiday saw a recovery in tourism, with attractions nationwide receiving over 100 million travelers in four days, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Monday.
Though the holiday still has one day to go, revenue generated over the past four days reached over 43 billion yuan ($6.1 billion).
Data cited from the ministry shows about 19.3 million visits were made to domestics attractions in just one single day on Monday, bringing revenue of 8.18 billion yuan to the market.
Back on the first day of the five-day break - from Friday to Tuesday - 8,498 A-rated attractions nationwide reopened to the public, accounting for about 70 percent of the total number. The tourism market also is smoothly operating without any mass gathering found.
In late April, the ministry ordered that domestic attractions are required to limit travel flow below 30 percent of their daily maximum visitor capacity during the holiday to secure control and prevention work against COVID-19.
