Magnitude-5.6 earthquake jolts Sichuan

A magnitude-5.6 earthquake hit Shiqu county in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Sichuan province at 8:23 pm on Wednesday, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported.
The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. No deaths were reported.
The Sichuan emergency management department triggered its Grade-3 emergency response plan and is co-ordinating relief efforts.
The first disaster relief materials, including tents, cotton clothing and quilts, were sent to the quake zone on Thursday morning, said Yuan Mingguang, the county's Party chief.
